hey everyone welcome back to another area Spotlight hi my name is Brian Schrader I'm with the coastline NC Real Estate Group at Blue Coast Realty Corporation today's Community Spotlight is going to be Oak Island as you can see in the background here it's a pretty beach it's Unique it's 13 miles long uh the closest town to it Southport and the beach actually faces South which is pretty unique for an East Coast beach as you can see here on the map the red air that is where Oak Island is located so you can see that is south of Wilmington North Carolina and also north of Myrtle Beach South Carolina so diving into a little bit closer you'll see that there's the area Southport on the mainland it sits at the mouth of the Cape Fear River the island which faces South it starts at Fort Caswell to the East and ends all the way down to the South it borders there's two islands that border Oak Island you have Holden Beach to the west and you have Bald Head Island to the east so Oak Island's unique because it's got the ocean front it's got the Intracoastal Waterway front it's got the mouth of the Cape Fear River and there's also some unique Creeks that run up inside of Oak Island as well such as Davis Creek so looking at the uh the map here this is a flood map you can see that there's a lot of areas as you would um you know well known that it's Coastal that are going to fall in that flood zone of ve and AE but you can also see that there's a lot of the island that's not in the actual flood zone so we talked about like what's uh what's around Oak Island here's a shot of Bald Head Island um it sits off to the east it sits at the mouth of the Cape Fear River here's a shot of or body it's like a landmark for the Island the island has a golf course on it it's Unique because uh it can only you can only access this area by ferry here's a shot of the nearest town Southport you'll find restaurants coffee shops tons of little Boutique restaurants and whatnot and they also have a crazy uh beautiful Water Park it's the fishing up here as well down here you'll find some great restaurants that sit right on the water so it's a nice little town next to next to Oak Island here's another shot of the beach one of the big things about Oak Island is a lot of people will love the vacation here there's a lot of full-time residents that do live here on the island the shots of this is Davis Creek which is neat if you ever wondered if hey if I ever could pull my boat up to my own house and leave this might be a great opportunity it leads out to the Intracoastal Waterway so if you're that type of person that's interested in machine might be a good fit for you but anyway if you have any questions about Oak Island or the surrounding area feel free to give me a call here at the number I'm going to post a link to the comments of this video it'll drive you to a page it's got everything for sale on it but for any questions about maybe a specific property or if you're looking to sell feel free to give me a call here at the number and this is Brian Schrader again at the coastline NC real estate team at glucose and we hope to see you here on the next area update
